ABOUT SHAYLA HUDSON
VITA
Shayla Hudson is a Canadian actress and creator, born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. As a young child, Shayla surrounded herself in the arts which undoubtedly grew her passions into what they are today.

In High School, Shayla attended Walkerville Centre for the Creative Arts where she studied and performed in Dance, Vocal, and Drama. In her senior years, Shayla took part in many WCCA theatrical productions such as In The Heights (Camilla Rosario), Stories of the Joshua Tree (Jane), Dracula (Mina Murray), and many more. In 2014, Shayla, alongside a few other WCCA Drama students, had the opportunity to take their 2013 production of In The Heights to Edinburgh Fringe under the American High School Theatre Festival. The WCCA Production was well received in the AHSTF category of the festival, and the students learned so much about the struggles and fun it takes to mount a show in festival. Shayla graduated Walkerville with a 96% average and was awarded the "Top All-Around WCCA Student"; awarded to a WCCA student who excelled in all of their respective WCCA classes. In conjunction with the award plaque, Shayla was also awarded a scholarship to the University of Windsor for her excellence in the Arts.

Shayla received her BFA in Acting from the University of Windsor in 2019. She enjoyed every one of the feats and obstacles she has overcome, as well as all of the training she has received. Shayla has studied under Movement coach/mentor Gina Lori Riley, Voice coaches Michael Keating and Marc Bondy, Acting coaches Meaghen Quinn, Lionel Walsh, Brian Taylor, Lee Wilson and Kelly Daniels, and has been directed by Lezlie Wade and Kelli Fox. Her time at Windsor has helped her blossom into the actor-creator she is today. Shayla looks to continue her training, with a focus on collective collaboration, Suzuki Method as well as the Chekhov Technique.

After graduating from the University of Windsor, Shayla has had the pleasure to explore other areas of interest in the industry, casting music videos (Pisces Moon by Flower Face, Confession by Tavy), short films (Hi, Chase by Shane Trowbridge), as well as Associate Directing (Tinkerbell, University Players (Windsor), Dir. Lee Wilson). It has broadened her scope as to what it means to her to be an artist; ever changing, evolving and learning.

She is currently in the process of preparing for the 2024 URTAs showcase in Chicago and applying for Graduate programs in the UK and USA. "Continuing my education is something I've wanted to do to better myself as an actor, creator and person. To continuously learn, create and imagine, while also being pushed to always be and do better is something I'm very keen on. There is no end to learning and growth, and I wish to push myself further than I've gone before. I'm excited to take these next steps in my career, it's as exciting as it gets!".
